As we’ve said several times before, knowing your audience will make or break your marketing campaign. It is the way all your efforts regarding your marketing campaign will be tested. Be sure you don’t waste your time on the front end developing your marketing strategies. Also, make sure you don’t waste your time on the back end when it comes to your audience. Ideally, you should have a blueprint or plan written out once your branding is correctly polished. We’ll briefly cover some high level topics so you can better understand your audience.

Making Time For Your Audience

The very first thing you need to do is set aside time to understand your audience. Time will enable you to gather a large database of information. In the agency world, we call this “market research” and it’s the number one step in our process. We have ways of looking more quickly at the past. However, if you do it on your own, be sure you’re already publishing content consistently. With that baseline, you’ll be able to better see a steady flow of engagement.

Ask Yourself About Your Audience

The magic specific answer of who you should be marketing to (your demographic) won’t come to you simply by snapping your fingers. Put in the work and time to find your future customers. Below are a few good starting questions:

  • Who are your followers?
  • What social media platforms do they use?
  • What types of people are talking to you?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • Are they employees of companies or individual business owners?
  • Are they night owls or early risers?
  • Family men and women or single people?

Keep track of the sex, age, status and hobbies of the people who follow and talk to you. We can help you track and build your audience. Reach out to us to learn more.
